A Quiet Slam

A badge gifted me by my lovely friend Anna. Highly irrelevant to this post, but no less amazing to have an elephant with a book in his trunk exhorting us to not forget the library

We’re excited to announce that we’re having our first ever slam here in the SPL with the hosting help of the experts, Kevin Cadwallender and Anita Govan of VoXboX! They held a quiet (so-called Sotto Voce) slam at their regular spoken word night, and it went down a gentle storm. And since we are a library, and since our current exhibition features the wonderful Ivor Cutler who hated loud noises and championed the Noise Abatement Society, we thought this would be just the softly softly ticket.

It’s on tomorrow (Wednesday 2 September) at 7pm. Kevin popped in today and said there are twelve excellent participants lined up and three eagle-eared judges. It costs £3/2 to get in, and there will be tea served at some point in the evening. Hope you can make it, and if you can’t, there’ll be post-show photos for sure. Looking forward, sideways and backwards to it!
